Kate CheungBio
Kate Cheung is a Hong Kong-based interdisciplinary artist whose practice revolves around slowness, presence, and the perception of time. She approaches slow processes of making and looking as a means of cultivating mindfulness and inhabiting the present moment, seeking to reveal the underlying connections between memories, environments, relationships, and forms of life that may appear separate yet remain deeply intertwined. These inquiries unfold across moving image, installation, thread-based works, artbooks, and writing.

無人之境的異樣切片 Slices of Strangeness in No Man's Land
Crystal Li 評 「The Day When We Depart 」Everyday life is often overlooked and taken for granted by many. Yet, the transience of a modern city morphs daily mundane scenes into unrecognizable forms before anybody notices. Capturing images can be an attempt for an individual to document and remember the visage of landscapes. It is also an intimate process to read a space with one's personal pace and energy, thus expanding spaces in slowness or an intimate space in hurriedness, with unexpected emotion evoked. In the end, cameras have become a guide, taking their operators to depart from daily perspectives - only to find a familiar space turns strange and detached from their comfort.
