Kate Cheung is a Hong Kong-based interdisciplinary artist whose practice revolves around slowness, presence, and the perception of time. She approaches slow processes of making and looking as a means of cultivating mindfulness and inhabiting the present moment, seeking to reveal the underlying connections between memories, environments, relationships, and forms of life that may appear separate yet remain deeply intertwined. These inquiries unfold across moving image, installation, thread-based works, artbooks, and writing.

A total of 70 copies have been sold, including at Tai Kwun Contemporary’s 4th BOOKED: Hong Kong Art Book Fair
 大館當代美術館主辦第四屆 BOOKED: 香港藝術書展),
Art and Culture Outreach (藝鵠), and to private collectors.

This book is also included on the DAAP website.
A poetry collection contains 55 poems about Hong Kong, land, and my growth, as well as 28 threaded illustrations. As each threaded illustration is double-sided, I intentionally left blank pages between the poems so that readers can correspond one side of the threaded illustration while reading, and the reverse side corresponds to another poem.

I sewed the thread onto the book because I think a line of text looks like a line, so I hope that readers
can read the threads while reading the text, and the thread itself can become a language. The interesting thing about the thread is that it can connect different illustrations together. However, once one side breaks, the other side will also break. Moreover, the thread is fluid, so each time the book is opened and read, the form of the thread will be different.
