Kate Cheung is a multidisciplinary artist based in Hong Kong, working across moving image, media art, textile, and poetry.
Her works expand the possibilities between poetry and other media, including the poetic of textile and media art, as well as video poetry. She explores the potential of poetic expression by interweaving threads, fabric, and digital images to build a unique visual language. She believes that poetry can be expressed not only through words, but also through images and material forms, echoing humanity’s original ways of communication, while language itself often leads to overthinking. Poetry is already present; it resides not only in text, but in all things that already exist.
Her works reflect different states of selfhood, from childhood to adulthood. She attempts to reshape chaos into tranquility and inner peace. They may appear fragmented, unstable, and vulnerable, but they are also coherent, free, and resilient—like a quiet tide.
Her works have also been shown internationally, with exhibitions and collaborations in Ireland, Italy, Taipei, Thailand and Japan.
Besides, she is also one of the Hong Kong Duo 森麻實道 Somerset Road , as well as the co-founder of maison meander.
畸是一位駐於香港的跨領域藝術家，專注於錄像藝術、媒體藝術、紡織藝術與詩作。
她的作品開拓詩與其他媒體的可能性，包括紡織與錄像藝術的詩性結合丶影像詩等。探索詩意表達的可能性。藉由交織線材、布料與數位影像，建立一種獨特的視覺語言，她相信詩意不單能透過文字表達，還可透過影像和物質來創作和閱讀，就如人類原始的溝通方式。而語言本身往往導致過度思考。詩意早已存在，它不單在文字之中，也於一切本已存在的事物裡。
她的作品呈現不同階段的自我和狀態，從童年到成年。她試圖重塑混亂，轉化為寧靜與內在平和。這些作品或許顯得破碎、不穩定和脆弱，但同時也是連貫、自由且具有韌性——如靜默的浪潮。
畸近年的作品在不同的國際平台上展出，包括愛爾蘭丶意大利丶台北丶泰國和日本。
她亦是香港雙人音樂組合 森麻實道 Somerset Road 的其中一員，主要擔任主唱及作詞人。也是 maison meander 的聯合創辦人和策展人。
