Kate Cheung is a multidisciplinary artist based in Hong Kong, specializing in moving image, media art, textile art, and poetry.
Her artistic practice explores the expressive possibilities of poetry through diverse visual, textile, and intermedia approaches. By weaving threads, fabric, and digital imagery, Kate crafts a distinctive visual language, articulating meaning through texture and form. She believes that poetry transcends textual boundaries and can be felt through visual imagery and tactile materials.
Kate’s work intimately reflects her upbringing and the environment she inhabits. Themes of childhood trauma and the profound impact of her family often subtly permeate her works. Moreover, she explores the interplay between living spaces and all forms of life inhabiting them, deeply pondering their mutual influences and relationships, while addressing themes of humanity, ecology, and environmental awareness.
Her works have also been shown internationally, with collaborations and exhibitions in Taipei, Thailand, Japan and Italy.
Besides, she is also one of the Hong Kong Duo 森麻實道 Somerset Road , as well as the co-founder of maison meander.
畸是一位駐於香港的跨領域藝術家，專注於錄像藝術、媒體藝術、紡織藝術與詩作。
她的作品開拓詩與其他媒體的可能性，包括紡織與錄像藝術的詩性結合丶影像詩等。探索詩意表達的可能性。藉由交織線材、布料與數位影像，建立一種獨特的視覺語言，她相信詩意不單能透過文字表達，還可透過影像和物質來創作和閱讀。
畸圍繞著她的成長經歷與生活環境創作。作品滲透著童年經歷與原生家庭之間拉扯的情緒。此外，她也探討所有形式的生命與他們生活空間的互動，如何彼此的影響與連結，觸及人文、生態與環境等議題。
她亦是香港雙人音樂組合 森麻實道 Somerset Road 的其中一員，主要擔任主唱及作詞人。也是 maison meander 的聯合創辦人和策展人。
