Braiding
Video | 1’31” | 2024
Selina Lo & Kate Cheung
Using the same film camera model, they capture stop-motion moving images along the route they take from their home. They keep moving while shooting, shifting the focus of their video work from expanding a space statically or deconstructing it with motion using digital cameras. Instead, they walk towards what captivates them. When everyday surroundings become the subject matter of the footage, without being distracted by camera movement, they decide to braid all these films together. This creates a seemingly seamless route away from home, but also departing from the chronological flow as captured, and moving back and forth along the frames.
